Spring Cleaning

Been working on a few things. Fatman O'Toole related. <-- The original poem is due sometime around September in issue #4 of motel58. --> Maybe a chapbook thing.

Been thinking about the collection and actually, seriously, truthfully, looking into piecing it together.

Already got two bites out of this latest batch in about a week. Thieves Jargon--one of my favorite poems will be there shortly along with another that I heavily revised this time (and made much better). The other at a place called Breadcrumb Scabs (yeah, so the name kinda sold me on submitting--).

My sister's dog isn't feeling well (and on my sister's birthday, too). It stinks.

Happy Birthday, Sis.

Big Boy's been struggling with what looks like diabetes and I hate seeing him that way.

It sucks.

Brighter side?

It's BASEBALL SEASON! Woohoo!

Royals will finish 79-83 and second in the division. It's easy to see parity where there is an abundance of mediocrity. That is the AL Central code. So, Go Royals!

So, anyway. Been thinking about checking in more often.

Maybe doing little capsule reviews.

One hundred words and a handful of pics* of the leading, supporting, cameo, ladies.

It's what they want.
It's what google takes away.

Inside snark? Ya betcha!

* Note: I have this post tagged under Foto, but obviously they are not all mine. For instance, I would have been like three years old when Brett and the lady with the fine ass exchanged pleasantries. I do not own a signed Billy Butler card (thought it'd be cool) (and so did not take that picture either). Jennifer Tilly and Milla Jovovich are pretty, but I do not know them personally (thus...dur) These Photos Are NOT MINE; they are only used to demonstrate the eloquence of the world and to enhance culture as a whole.

My pictures are:
1) The sketch of Fatman O'Toole/Me.
2) Picture of my sister's dog, Ne-Hi.
3) Picture of Big Boy (which may already be on the blog...)
4) The Baseball.

The others are not.

Submissions Update.

51.

Would have been 52,
but I didn't like the direction
of one of the journals
and didn't think my poetry
fit quite right there.

Taking a break for just a minute.

Preposthumous series will return on the 15th
as warned.

Until then, how about cat pictures?

Preposthumous Poetry And Stuffz: Work #13

"Baseball On The Sunrise Strip"

A poem I wrote last year, "Baseball on the Sunrise Strip" never left my hands. It was four stanzas, three of which sucked rocks, about a nightclub/baseball/bullshit metaphor. The one stanza was what I was going for, but the slosh to get there was not something I felt great about. I trimmed it up for this, changed some tense, pieced it into a tight six lines.

Searching for music, I settled on a tune by Mississippi John Hurt called Nobody's Dirty Business. Recorded in 1928, it falls under a public domain license. The subject matter of the song is very cold and interesting. Mixed with the subject matter of the poem, it doesn't immediately mesh well, but possibly adds an extra texture of what went sour in the "protagonist's" view. It may be used again and soon. Maybe like in the next month for one of my personal favorites of the dead poems.

The film footage is a public domain video of Army Nurses filmed in 1945 by the Armed Forces. Good stuff. I found it here: http://www.archive.org/index.php

The baseball picture is mine.

My theme is Telemann's Sonata for 2 violins, MVMNT. 3 released under CC 2.0 by MIT.

March Madness

I'm about five poems away from the 60::90.
Once they are typed up (a week or so), I'll begin revisions.
Been thinking about putting together something larger.
Calling it The Vice Con.
Three parts.
The Sum.
The Result.
The Remainder.
Sixty-six poems.
The number of God.
Supposedly.
Fun to dream.

Maybe a Chapbook, too.
Featuring a cross-section of fiction and poetry?
Gotta get more serious.

Anyway, submissions are likely to be around tax day.
Then, it's a check-up.
Then, it's a pack-up.
Then, it's goodbye.

.

Click to en-biggen.

"Life, Darting" is another titled Haiku. It's pretty self-explanatory. Two things) I was gonna wait until Spring officially hit, but it's 81-degrees today, so woohoo; and this is actually one of the first preposts I did. Notice the Work #4? lol. This is actually work #12.

An insect was injured in the filming of Boo's malice.
I heard he was tasty, too.

All photos, words, design is mine.

Where'd Ya Go, Biff?

So, I took a mini-vacation.
Which became a longer vacation.
Which beget an illness.
Which hopped into a snowstorm
and no power for 65 hours as I returned.

Preposthumous Poetry & Stuffz will be back on Monday
with an all new episode for you to ignore
as you go hunting pics of Lauren Graham and Marisa Tomei
in some old Movie Reviews here on the site.

Movie Reviews...I might pick that back up again in the distant future.
Might.

The sickness threw off my 60::90.
Which will delay revisions.
Which will delay submissions.
But I hope to be sending out by Tax day.
Oh, Tax day.

So, anyway.
I am back, sorta.
Sorta.
Health is about 99%.

Mentally, I'm all yours.
Sorta.
